WHAKATANE'S SUCCESS

CLOSE TO CHAMPIONS

A team of members of the local Volunteer Fire Brigade visited Thames on Saturday to compete in the South Auckland Provincial demonstrations and was successful in annexing the Bereton Shield. Had the team competed in the last event it had every chance of having won the championship. The competition was very keen throughout and the .local team is to be congratulated on its success. The members who made the trip were Team Captain Allen, Firemen Davies, Wiggins, King with Fireman Miles as emergency.
