Lieut. Stark, of Papakura military camp spent the week-end at Whakatane. Lieut. Stark while in* camp suffered an attack of appen-« dicitis which prevented him sailing with his reinforcements. Jfe L. G. Wood, who for over has been postmaster at Whakatane, has received notice of j transfer to a similar position at Devonport, Auckland, Mr A. V. Lattimore, of Papatoetoe, has beenappointed to the position: at Whakatane which will be vacated by Mr Wood at a date yet to be arranged. The Rev. Mi Thomas who is t<* take charge of the Methodist Church as successor to the Rev. CP. Lucas, who has taken up duty at Huntly, arrives from Trinity College, Auckland, to-day. An induction service is to be held at tfi*Methodist Church to-night, wheft the ceremony will be conducted bjjt i the Rev. H. White, of Tauranga. -
