SWIMMING POOL

Sir,—Reading in the BEACON the discussion on a swimming pool in Whakatane, ,1 would like to show ni}' sympathy with the broad idea of teaching all children to swim by providing facilities for that Avorthwhile object, and if i.t is decided to build a pool for the schooL children in time for next season I would feel it a privilege to donate five pounds (£5) towards that object. As. to the large scheme proposed my opinion is that it should be deferred until a more suitable time, such as* when the war is finished and thousands of returned men are wanting a job and then it would warrant a loan being raised by the Borough for that object. "LEARN TO SWIM.".
