LOVELOCK STREET
—— ( Sir, —Let me first thank our Mayor for the small amount of information given to you in. reply to my letter. I note this mostly covers Government matters regarding roads, kerbing and channelling. Ilf this information can be why not the balance, what harm can be done, as I am sure everything must be in. order with nothing to hide. Oil what a grand display of whitewash or eye wash, tc cover up the points raised. My question re road formation, kerbing and Street remains urfinswerecl. H like the Mayor, know no kerbing and channelling has been done in Lovelock Street so why evade the point raised, Avho did or who will pay for such work; by covering up the road formation; by raising the point of tar sealing Lovelock Street, a question never asked for ! I ask are these not genuine queries on public matters, and public money. If the Beacon did not publish the points raised, 'why not let it be done now. We are not asking for our "Beacon" to come under the blackout scheme. Yours etc., HARRY CARR. (In reference to the above, Mr Barry stated in an interview yesterday, that he had answered as well as possible the questions raised by our correspondent, and had nothing further to say. The council hacl nothing to hide in its deliberations over the past three years and was prepared to face the electors at the coming election. Ed.)
