MOTTO WANTED
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE'S DESIRE The Chamber of Commerce wants a motto. Members have been swotting their French and Latin, but the result to dale is nil. So last night it was decided that for another month all dwell on the matter. One member suggested something in Latin but he could only remember one word of it and that he couldn't pronounce. Another had the idea of French (interjection :
"Free of Occupied ?") and suggested "En Evant," but the Mayor asked what was wrong with English.
The president, Mr Sullivan : Well, all members think the matter ovier and make your suggestions in French, Maori, Latin or English.
A Voice: "Or Australian."
The press was quietly eying the clock and reflecting on ten years swimming baths wrangling, other little matters such as garbage collection not to mention Ohope road thought of "Tempus Fugit."
