PERSONAL
Mr and Mrs L. R. Spring, left by motor on Saturday to visit Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs C. Kingsley-Smith' have returned from a holiday spent touring in the Auckland and north Auckland territories, Mrs J. Gearey, of Victoria Avenue Remuera, is al present visiting her neice Mrs Ray Baguley of Edgecumbe. Mr C. G. C. Dermer, president of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders Association spent the weekend at Wliakatane and on Saturday addressed a meeting of members of the Association. The funeral of the late Mr F. A. Britten took place at the Whakatane cemetery on Friday, there being a large following of residents of town and district present to pay their respects. Members of the Returned Soldiers' Association and of the Masonic Lodge were in attendance and a firing party of six riflemen under Lieut. Clark. The service was conducted by the Rev.. H, Hogg., while the pall bearers were Messrs. H. 'N. McDonald, E. A. Currah and S. Abbott (representing the R.S.A.) and Messrs D.. V. Saunders. E. W. Matthews and A'. Donaldson (Masonic Lodge).
