PUBLIC NOTICES PRECAUTIONS SCHEME ORGANIZATION REDUCED LIGHTING SCHEME WHAKATANE BOROUGH AND COUNTY In terms of the Lighting Restrictions Emergency Regulations, 1941, and virtue of the authority de-' legated to us, with the approval of the Honourable the Minister of National Service by the Dominion Lighting Controller, we, James Leslie Burnett and Brian Sweeney Barry, Chairmen respectively of the Emergency Precautions Scheme Organizations for the County of Wha j katane and the Borough of Whakatane, DO HEREBY GIVE PUBLIC NOTICE to Lighting Supply Authorities, Local Bodies, all other interests concerned and the general public that the undermentioned scheme of reduced lighting has been adopted to operate within the boundaries of the County of Whakatane and the Borough of Whakatane 1. All lighting visible from the sea in either the County of Whakatane or the Borough of Whakatane to be dealt with as follows : (a) Illuminated advertising signs to be disconnected. (b) Building floodlights to be disconnected. (c) Under-verandah lights to be disconnected. (d) Shop window lights to be disconnected or adequately shrouded. (e) Windows of indutsrial, commercial and domestic premises to be fitted with blinds, or otherwise adequately dealt with to prevent the emission of light. (f) Doordays and entrances to be adequately screened against the emission of light. (g) Control of such other lighting to be dealt with as necessary to comply with the requirements of the Lighting Restrictions Emergency Regulations, 1941. 2. All lighting giving rise to skyglow to be disconnected or obscured. This includes :— (a) Gaseous discharge tubing and incandescent advertising signs, or other illumination which can emit glare or reflect light upward, to be disconnected. (b) Street lighting or other outdoor lighting to be suitably shrouded so as to prevent reflection on to the clouds or surrounding objects, or disconnected where directly visible from the sea. (c) Light emilted from uncovered windows or skylights to be adequately dealt with to prevent the emission of lightWe give further PUBLIC NOTICE that, in respect of the lighting described in Paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of 1 and Paragraphs (a) and (b) of 2, as above, the scheme outlined in regard thereto will come into operation as from 6 a.ni. Monday next March 24, 1941.' We give further PUBLIC NOTICE that, in respect of the lighting described in Paragraphs (d), (e), (f) and! (g) of 1, and (c) of 2. as above, the scheme outlined in regard thereto will come into operation as from 6 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 1941.
