SIR BEAU UNDER OFFER Sir Beau is nruler offer to a buyer in India for 200') guineas. THE CANTERBURY CUP WINNER The Wellington Ccntcnarj' Cup winner, Old Bill, lias again been eased up at Awapuni, by his trainer Luke Wilson, and is unlikely to he raced again this season. RACING AT NGARUAWAHIAJ The ever popular Ngaruawahia non-totalisator meeting is to be held on April 5. Quite a good class of performer takes part in these meetings, and the contests are generally of a very keen order. VERY SPEEDY One of the speedy candidates in the Rangitikci district is the Ringmaster—Midineite three year old colt Ringcraft. His next appearance under the colours will be at the Wanganui meeting to be held next month at Awapnni. AGAIN IN ACTION That once good performer of the handicap ranks, Willie Win, is again a regular worker at Riccarton and is intended to be raced in the Great Autumn Handicap. If landed at the post fit and well, the opposition may be kept busy in the stern chase to head him off.
TO BE RETIRED At one time a payable racing proposition the Siegfried representative Siegmund, competed at the Carterton meeting, bu'. early in the running broke down .badly. It is considered that his racing earcei has ended as it is not proposed to endeavour to patch him up. A LIFE-LIKE REPRODUCTION Mr Ralph Stewart has presented the Wellington Racing Club, to be hung in the Stewards' room, an enlarged photograph of Beau Vite. It is in colour, and a life-like reproduction of a horse whose racing deeds will long live in the memory of sportsmen generally. RIDER SUSPENDED Following the running of the Netherton Hack Handicap at Paeroa on Saturday, the judicial committee opened an inquiry concerning interference with Hunto. The outcome was that W. Snsor, rider of Paymaster, was suspended for a month for careless riding. JOCKEYS INJURED Just after being mounted by E. V. Dye to contest the Karangahake Handicap at Paeroa on Saturday, Funny Fox reared over and gave her rider a heavy fall. Dye remounted and rode Funny I" ox, and later Sharmin and Sunny Downs, after which he had to receive medical attention and forgo the rest of his mounts. When he fell he injured his ribs, and lie will probably have to have a short rest before lie resumes riding. Concussion, a broken collarbone and minor injuries were suffered by O. Evans when Gaj 7 Seton fell in the Handicap Hurdles. He was admitted to the Waikato Hospital. BAY OF PLENTY MEETING Very satisfactory nominations have been received for the Bay of Plenty meeting to be held at Gate Pa on Saturday and Monday. Apparently the handicaps will be made after the Ohincmuri meeting, which concluded on St. Day, and their late appearance in print can be taken as an argument in favour of fixed penalties for winners. In the past this system has not been entirely - satisfactory, but the same can be said of the mode now in use, that ol the handieapper adding penalties. Sometimes harsh in the extra me, as proved in the case of Te Aroha, where certain Waikato winners were penalised 17Ibs and 181bs in weight. That this wholesale re-allotmfent was not satisfactory to the owner, trainer, club or racing public was duly shown by the non-acceptance of candidates whose presence at the meeting would have been an attraction.
