TOTALLY INADEQUATE

! E.P.S. PERSONNEL | VITAL Yv'OKK WAITING Personnel is urgently required for the Emergency Precautions Organisation, the number at present enrolled being totally inadequate, and an appeal is made to both sexes over the age of 16 years, who are reasonably fit to offer their services for this work which, is of vital importance. The duties of this organisation are varied and offer, as well as the opportunity of serving the country, interesting work for recruits of all ages. There has been no difficulty In obtaining recruits in the Home Guard and now this organisation is strong in this area. However, probably because oie E.P.S. has not received much publicity owing to its duties not being defined until recently, very few have come forward to offer their services. The work is equally as urgent and equally as interesting as that of the Guard. There arc important duties ana tasks which, although a recruit might not be quite fit enough to undertake Guard duties could be accomplished, while tasks of a more active nature require the attention of energetic people. Younger volunteers can serve with the Red Gross of the Women's War Service Auxiliary, Red Cross. In particular there are openings for recruits with the Red Cross and, as the St, John Ambulant.Brigade has resumed classes in First Aid, immediate training can be given. The Red Cross personnel is in similar position as the genera! duties branch of the E.P.S. and recruits are earnestly sought. Fire Services. It will be remembered that recently the local Fire Superintendent, Mr Stewart - , appealed for Auxiliary Firemen. He received quite a good response, but with these men and youths advancing in their training there are vacancies for more trainees. Enquiries will be welcomed by Superintendent Stewart.
