The hilarities of George Formby are interwoven into a topical tale of TJ- 1 boat adventures. George is a ukulele player mistakenly engaged for a crack band it Bergen. Its leader is a spy who broadcasts in his music the position of British ships, but George is able to steal his code and forward it to the British Admiralty, with the consequence that a number of U-boats are sunk. The band leader seeks vengeance on George, but in the end, after many adventures, the hero contrives to round up the entire gang. While George sings a number of songs to his own ukelele accompaniment, it is his knock-about exploits that are amusing.
