CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS

Sir, —Re conscientious objectors to military service. I have a suggestion to offer that these gentlemen who I understand become servants of the Government on the day they are gazetted should be posted to farm work or other essential industries to relieve other young men who desire to serve their country by fighting for it. Why should one man's son have to give his service and perhaps his life for his country while another man who has some religious or other objection be allowed to continue in his lucrative occupation. Yours etc., ONE WHO KNOWS AND HAS SERVED.
