REGENT Screening Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, "The Doctor Takes a Wife," Loretta Young, Ray Milland, Reginald Gardiner, Gail Patrick, Edmund Gwenn. Heart trouble with convulsing complications. A sopliiscated comedy which allows one to forget the war and all personal worries. The tastiest tonic of contagious laughter a doctor ever ordered. Moving at high N speed, this delightful entertainment is a blend between "Dr Kildare" and "French Without Tears." She was a man-hating novelist—he was a woman-hating doctor —a doctor without practice in making love—until she made him a specialist. Reginald Gardiner is seen as Miss Young's publisher and wouldbe husband who, to protect his lovely author's name and reputation, forces her to "marry" a reluctant Milland. He then sits around and does his best* to smash the riage" because he wants to marry the girl himself. "London Can Take It." By special arrangement with the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom, Sir Harry Batterbee, we present "London Can Take It," a deeply-impressive picture, excellent in photography,, and outstanding in its sound accompaniment, and especially the verbal description, which is given by an American journalist without a trace of exaggeration. The picture of London at night fall, and the arrival of German bombers whose heavy drone fills the air, is followed by a vivid display of gun-fire. All through the picture runs the keynote of the steady morale of the "civilian army." The title is perfect.
GRAND Screening Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. "Curtain Call" Barbara Read, Helen Vinsor), Alan Mobray, Donald Mcßride. A gay adventure in high speed comedy and romance. She startled even blase Broadway with a tragedy that moved them to tears of laughter. "Code of the Secret Service" Ronald Reagan, Rosella Towne, Eddie Foy Jr. "To be dauntless in the face of danger ... To be fearless in the face of death!" i
