PLAY ON LOCAL GREENS FORBES GUP The Forbes' Cup played for annually between teams representing Opotiki, OpotLki Citizens, Taneatua and Whakatane, Avas again competed for on Saturday last on tlie local greens, with Whakatane the holders. Some good games were witnessed and the Gup went to Taneatua who thoroughly earned it. The game between Taneatua and Opotiki in particular was good, and evenly matched, being all square on the last end, an extra end being played which was killed. In the next end Taneatua made no mistake and ran out the winners. The final produced some good bowling although Taneatua easily won on the score. Championships Champion Singles: Loane 8 v Baxter 16, leaving Loane, Hayward and Baxter left in with one life each. Junior Singles: Oswald 18 v Dixon 12; McMillan lost to Berg. Championship Pairs: McLeod and Hollis 19 v Berg and Mlarsh 24; Healy and King 19 v Cole and Tippett 17; Dixon and Drube 16 v J. Bell and E. J. Bell 19; Francis and Loane 20 v Creelte and Mol'saac 16;. Comer and Chartibers 20 v Bigelow and Salmon 16. Half Day Tournament A half-day Progressive Pairs Tournament was held at the week-end and attracted 32 entries and a very enjoyable game was had. Three players-—Bullard, Bath and Cole tied with 4y 2 wins each in the leads section, the finals finding Bath the winner after some excellent howling. Bullard 1, Bath 7, Cole 6, Bath 8.
