WAIMANA EVENT i~ : ' SIXTH ANNUAL SliOW Wainiana an> I jYukuhou Women's Institute held their .sixth annual Show in the Waimana Hall on February 21). The Show has progressed each year and this one surpassed all previous ones not only in entries but in attendance. There were between 800 and 1)00 entries. The flowers from the small rose to the huge, dahlias presented a bright scene. The large stage wasconipletely covered with buckets, bowls and jars of flowers, while in front were the benches of smaller flowers. Surrounding the hall were benches with the various classes. Ample seating was provided so that visitors were able to rest. After the supper, provided by the ladies, -Mr F. Savage complimented all who had worked and made the Show such a success. He thanked the donors who so kindly sent in donations for various classes; the judges who had travelled from Opotiki and Taneatua, the doorkeeper, and others who had helped. The prize winners, were:— The Challenge Cup donated by Mr N. Eagle for most points in school work Avon by Maureen Ward!aw. The Cup donated by Mr Nj Macdonakl for champion roses, Mrs F. Savage. Mesdamcs Hewitt's and Grover's special for runner-up in points, Mrs R. Black. Mrs F.. Savage's special for run-ner-up in school work, Irma Doran and Ramon Bell.
