Good Patriotic Effort. In an effort to do what they can in what they term "a small way'* the employees of Messrs Turinicliffe's timber mills are each month donating to the Patriotic funds half a clay's pay and this gesture is responsible for the funds benefitting to the extent of about £50 per month. The firm, subsidises the men's monthly donation by £5. One of the contributors when mentioning this fact remarked: "The Government get's us all ways thougli—l have just received an income tax demand and I have to pay on the amount I have donated."
