SOCIAL EVENING
FUNCTION AT EDGECUMBE | A very enjoyable evening in the form of a surprise party was spent at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. Speirs of Edgecumbe on Friday last. During the evening a competition was held which was won by Mrs K. Mackrell of Otakiri,, Mrs J. Russell being 2, and Mrs J. T'ickner 3. All present joined in community! singing after which Mrs Speirs was presented with a number of gifts from all those presert. Mr and Mrs Speirs suitably replied thankipg all present for the gifts and the very enjoyable evening. Supper was then served, by the ladies and the evening was brought to a close with the singing of "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows." Among those present were Mir and Mrs J. Beattie, Mr and Mrs J. Tickner, Mr and Mrs L. Crist all, Mr and Mrs O. Lord., Mr and Mrs K. Mackrell, Mr and Mrs J. Russell, Mr and Mrs J. Cannell, Miss Tunnicliffe, Mr King.
