SWIMMING SPORTS

CHAMPIONSHIPS HELD SPLENDID EXHIBITION Both the primary and secondary school swimming shorts were held at the town wharf last week, the former taking place on Thursday and the latter on Friday. Both days provided excellent sport the pupils showing remarkable proficiency in the acquatic art considering that they have no facilities available for their education in the 1 finer points of competitive swimming.

All events attracted largo entries and the rivalry between the Houses ran high as points were piled up by representative. The staff of the school had the programme arranged to the best advantage and there was not a dull moment for either the contestants or spectators.

In the primary department the championships were won by Lindsay Henderson and Nellie Rivett, who made splendid times and swam consistently during the day. Results of events were as follows: Primary. Boys 25yds Championship: Ben Hudson 1, D. Searle 2. Girls' 25yds Championship: Nellie. Rivett 1, Margaret Back 2. Boy's 25yds Handicap-: George Goodall 1, Les Goodall 2. Girls' 25yds Handicap: Nellie Rivett 1, Jocelyn Wilson 2. Boy's Breast Stroke: Lindsay Henderson 1, Phillip Moore 2. Girls' Breast Stroke: Nellie Rivett 1, Margaret Back 2. Boy's Back Stroke: Lindsay Hen-< derson 1, James Keir 2. Girls' Back Stroke: Nellie Rivett 1, Nora Ranby 2. Boy's Neat Dive: Lindsay Henderson 1, Rex Morpeth 2.
