- i Sir,:—You can imagine liow surprised and upset I Avas on Thursday when my little girl, who is in the primers at the Whakatane School, came home and told me that the infants had been set to work thatmorning picking up paper left on the showgrounds nearby. Can you tell me if this is correct, and by whose oredrs ? Surely there are plenty of big hoys to do scavenging work, without calling on the 5-year-olcts! After picking up this paper the children were allowed to fiat their lunches without washing their hands. How shocking ! Is this what we send our 5-year-olds to school for ? WHAKATANE MOTHER-
