WHY NOT A GIRL GUIDE TROOP
SUGGESTIONS that steps should be taken to form a Girl Guide troop in Whakatane have been put to us, and we have been assured that by giving the matter publicity public support will not be lacking. Already Whakatane can boast of a strong Scout troop and/ Cub Pack. The boys in this respect have been well catered for, and splendid work is being, done, but there are dozens of eligible young girls for whom no suitable organisation exists. Many of them would welcome a Guide troop, for apart from useful knowledge gained from the training, the war period is one in which any organised body of disciplined workers is capable of giving helpful and in some instances vital service. We throw out the suggestion to parents and others interested in the welfare of our young people. * -
