WHARFAGE RETURNS

PORT OF WHAKATANE

INCREASE IN REVENUE

At the meeting of the Whakatane Harbour Board held" on Friday, the treasurer, Ma - C. G. Lucas, reported that wharfages for the current year from October 1 to January 31 were £88 10s Id in advance of last year's figures. The total wharfages Avere respectively £1651 Is 5d and £1562 Is 5(1.

The comparison of figures for January of this year with other yean-s was given as follows: 1939, £308 Is Id; 1940, £420 8s ltd; 1911, £420 -is 9d.

Commenting on the figures the chairman, Mr J. W. Sumner, stated that t*he returns were highly satisfactory as it had been anticipated that revenue would be less this year and the estimates had been lowered by the treasurer by £200.
