HOUSEMAIDS
Royal Australian Air Force men 'nave been advised by the Air Detliat they may be required to help officers' wives with some housework states The Melbourne Herald. The announcement added, however, that at all times they were under the orders of the officers and never subject to the orders of their wives.
The difficulties of obtaining domestic help nt outlying stations should be appreciated, it was contended. No provision of domestic service for wives of the R.A.A.F. officers was made by the Air Board.
The Air Minister (Mr McEwen) .said that inquiries were being made about the service duties of men enlisted in the R.A.A.F. as mess stewards and mess men. The Air Department's statement follows the court martial of Aircraftsman Frank Harle in Perth jn December 18 and 19.
Harle objected to doing domestic work for an officer's wife, saying: "I won't be a slushy for anyone."
