Miss Ruby Hmvat is spending a holiday with friends in Opotiki. Mr and Mrs Pliilpott and son of Auckland are among the campers now holidaying at Ohope. Mr and Mrs J, N. Bullard and family of Goulstone Road, are spend ing a holiday at Ohope. Mr and Mrs F. Gartshore of Lovelock Street, have returned home after a brief holiday in^Auckland. Mrs A. Donaldson and, Miss Shirley Donaldson, of Commerce Street, Whakatane, are spending a holiday at Lake Roto Ehu. Mrs C. F. Thomas of McAlister Street, Whakatane, is enjoying a holiday with Mrs H. W. Brabant at Lake Rotoiti. Mr and Mrs B. S. Barry of Louvain Street, have returned home after spending the Christmas and New Year holidays with friends. Mr and Mrs W. T. Dale of Tc Aroha, and Mr and Mrs N. Hutchinson of Whangarei, have left fot home after a brief . holiday as the guests of Mr and Mrs C. Kingsley Smith, Ohope Beach. M)r R. Coulter, the Mayor of Te Aroha, Avho was in Whakatane on Wednesday in connection with the sitting of the Manpower Committee, spent part of his time at Ohope Beach, declaring the resort as the finest it lias been his privilege to visit. Mrs B.N. Briggs wiio is serving with the War Service Auxiliary, Auckland, is spending a short furlough at Ohope. During her stay heye she had as her guests Mr and Mrs Spitza, of Vienna, who have been through same very trying wartime experiences, Mr Spitza having sipent some months in a German concentration camp from which he escaped, only reaching safety after spending five days without either food or water, lie told of life in the concentration camps and the frightful treatment meted out to the prisoners, even women not escaping the brutality of the Nazi. Mr and Mrs Spitza lost several relations during the early occupation of Vienna. Mrs Briggs attended the farewell to Sister Mundy who sailed on the ill-fated Rangitane—also a farewell tendered to Miss Waterson-: sister of the late Dr Wadmore, who is at present on her Avay to the Solomari Islands to take up war work there.
