CHRISTMAS HAMPER
LOCAL SCOUTS ACTION
SURPRISE FOR EX-MEMBER
Members of the Whakatane Scout Troop combined to forward to one of their ex-members now serving with the Military Forces a Christmas hamper as an expression of good will from his old troop. In this instance the gifts were forwarded on to ex-scout'.T E. S. Henderson who is now serving with the Air Force and is undergoing training at Whenuapai, Auckland. The recipient has shoAvn his appreciation in the following reply to the Scoutmaster:— "Please convey my appreciation to the boys for their Xmas hamper. It was jolly good to get and 1 have found the contents first class. The more permanent contents will serve as happy reminders of Whakatane. It is some time now since I have had any scouting and I" am afraid I am getting rather rusty as far as the work goes; however I have a troop in Rakaia which is being kept gjoing so I will be able to get back .to it when the war is over. Best wishes and good hunting to you all."
