CASE FOR OBSERVATION' J ECHO OF EARLIER HEARING " Charged with being an idle and disorderly person with insufficient menns of support, Ge,offrey Archer appeared before Messrs G. Brabant and F. R. Brown, .T.P's w in th« Wlmkatane Police Court last FridayHe pleaded not guilty but could offer no explanation for bis actions or position. Sergeant Farrell stated that de.-v fendant bad been remanded fom ais earlier bearing and finally discharg ed when his mental condition had improved. Since that time however,, he had been wandering aJoout home lesls and bad not apparently partalc e>n of any food from the time be- was in custody. Relatives living at Ohope> were not interested in him and it appeared as though the kindest thing to do was to commit him to goal for a month during which period he could be' submitted to medical .ob servation and if necessary despatch ed to a more suitable institution. After hearing all the evidence th& above course was agreed upon* and a sentence of one months detention.-' imposed.
