TREAT FOR HOSPITAL PATIENTS SELECTION OF NEW YEAR'S EVE A pleasing gesture by members of the Whakatane Pipe Band took placc on New Year's Eve when eight members attended the Whakatane Hospital and played outside in the grounds for the benefit of the patients. Several marches and selections avcre played the applause which came from the wards indicating just how much they were appreciated. f ' At the conclusion the chairman of the Board. Mr J. W. Sumner, thanked the band and wished its members a prosperous New Year. Dr Dawson also added his thanks and expressed the hope that the band would attend the hospital in years to come and repeat its performance.
