NEW HALL PROPOSAL
THE suggestion put -forward at the Caledonian" Society's annual meeting is a worthy one, which should not be allowed to die. In Whakatane there is a dearth of halls suitable for public occasions and the addition, of a building between the size of the Winter Show building and the King Street hall would be most welcome. The Society is progressive and financial, and, though as the speaker pointed, out the present time witjh its high building costs, might not He; too favourable for the proposal to be put into operation,
yet it is well worthy of consideration and the Society woul 1 be commended to keep the matter, ,in official language, steadily in view.
