QUANDARY
FUTURE OF OHOPE PROGRESS AND RATEPAYER'S LEAGUE 1 t The tide of events at Ohope has; - placed the Progress and Ratepayer's ' League in a rather invidious posi- • tion in the first year of its life. 1 The proposal to form a Domain Board for the purpose of controlling the interests of the beach and its environs has led to the question being asked—is there any point in the existence of a League when a Board is formed. On the other hand other person's interested are firmly of the opinion that both bodies could operate amicably for the progress ;>f the resort.
The question however of the League's existence is one for its own members to decide, and as the Domain Board is not as yet a constituted body it would be folly to talk of dissolving the only other organisation cji the beach. Further the question of the Domain has been complicated a little owing to the objection of the Lands Department to handing over certain areas to the Board*
The chairman ol' the League has therefore decided that it would be wiser at the present juncture to hold over any further meeting of that organisation until such time as the Domain Boapd is gazetted and constituted. No meeting of the League will therefore be held before Christmas though it is likely that one will be called early in tile New Year.
