ON TRANSFER
POPULAR BANK MANAGER PROMOTED Mil ,F. iW, K. RAYMOND FOR KAMI LTON Mr F. W. Iv. Raymond, local manager lor the Union Bank of Australia lor the past three and a hall' years, has received advice of his promotion and transfer to Hamilton as manager there and lie will take lip his duties on January 7. Mr Raymond will be succeeded by Mr D. G. McCallum, at present manager of '.he Dannevirke branch, ■ « • » Mr Raymond, during liis term in Whakatane, has proved extremely popular with all sections of the community but apart from his association with various organisations he will be remembered as the one cliietly responsible for the erection of the modern and distinctive Bank I premises on the corner of George Street and the Strand. This building not only provides better banking facilities than that previously' in, use, but provides an added attract tion to the town and the business area. Mr Raymond has been a member of the school committee for some time and has been of great assistance to that body. The Whakatane Branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association will remember the, efforts of Mr Raymond, both as a member and, latterly, as president, and the loss of his services will also be felt by the Whakalane central commit- j tee of the Home Guard, of which he was chairman. He was also vicepresident of the Whakatane Club. When war broke out Mr Raymond offered, his services .on behalf ©£ patriotic activities and has been to the fore in all efforts dealing with the soldiers' interests. He has been a member of."the Whakatane County and Borough Inter-Zone Patriotic Committee since its inception. All those organisations with which he had association and the public generally will join in washing Mr Raymond the best of luck in his new position. •-« - v » Further transfers and promotions announced by the Union Bank of Australia include the appointment to Tolaga Bay of Mr L. W. Worsley, now manager at Te Puke, and i,o Te Puke of Mr Stevenson, of Waimate. It is a coincidence that Mr McCallum, who takes .Mr Raymond's place in Whakatane, succeeded him, also when Mr Raymond was transferred successively from the Te' Puke and Dannevirke branches. i
