HOLIDAY PETROL
NEEDED IN JANUARY LETTER TO THE MINISTER £%. •' w The question of holiday petrol was recently discussed by the Matamata Chamber of Commerce when it was decided to ask the Government to extend the period during which November and December coupons could be used to January 31. Matamata when petitioning sought the support of the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce who considered the request a reasonable'one and have also written to the ]Vlinister on the question. The letter sent by the Matamata Chamber of Commerce to the Minister of Supply, Hon. D. G. Sullivan, reads as follows: — "With regard to concessions given to motorists to enable them to use November and December coupons during December, there is one point which we would like to bring before your notice. As you are aware, there are a great number of people travelling for holiday purposes during January, particularly those who are taking children away for their school holidays. The point is that a person may save his November and December coupons to commence his holidays at the end of December but in practically every case it would ,be highly probable that the capacity of his petrol tank .would not be sufficient to take the supply, hence beforei he could run his car sufficiently far to enable him to get the balance of November and December supply it would be the month of January. "Would you please consider an extension of November and Decerns bor coupons to January 31," tho letter concluded.
