OHOPE DOMAIN BOARD
OHOPE after the long campaign for emancipation, appears now to be well on its way to something resembling localindependence. The move to establish the Domain Board, nominations for which have already gone forward for approval by the Minister of Lands, was but a further indication of its growing pains and now that this body is all but constituted it remains to be seen just what its members have in view for the progress and protection and further beautification of the resort. The scarlet masses of pohutukawa which are "at present decorating the cliffs and headlands are further proof of the unique nature of the beach which a visitor over the week-end described as one of the most singular and breath-taking sights it had been his pleasure to witness.' The gazetting of the .board will be the signal for authorising its legal operation as the guardian body for the magnificent reserves facing the beach. It is to be hoped that there will be little delay in effecting this necessary procedure. . ,
