98 FROM THIS DISTRICT

The names of the 14,000 men drawn in the first ballot for over

seas were issued in a Gazette Extraordinary in Wellington this morning! The list for the Paeroa Military Area includes the names of 98 men from the Whakatane district and these are listed, below.

Appeals against service must be addressed to the Director of National Service, Wellington, not to the secretaries of the re-

spective Manpower Committees -as was- the procedure with the ballots fdf territorial service. Appeals \us alp lodged within ten days to-day, that is, by Saturday,, December 14.

COMPLETED SECOND BALLOT MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS Lieutenant C. A. Head, R.CX, advises that the medical examination of men drawn .in the second , ballot for territorial service has now been completed .. Of the 156 men examined, 109 were passed fit, 16 temporarily unfit and 31 permanently unlit.
