ASSOCIATION'S 12TH ANNUAL MEETING INCREASED MEMBERSHIP WANTED it" . i -• 'The 12th annual general meeting -of the Whakatane Winter Show Asrsociation was held in . the Boroug'jh iChambers on Saturday evening, a . good, attendance of members includ:ing several ladies. A bright note characterised the meeting. Major items, for discussion included an increased membership strength recommendations of the Ladies' Com uiittee for improvements and suggested alterations to the show profession. ' Speaking on the first-named, Mr "F. B. Cutler said it would be seen from the balance!-sheet that overhead expenses this year, as with previous .years, would recur mainly before the show opened. Should unfavourable weather or other conditions of an adverse nature be experienced that overhead would constitute a. dead loss, Some form of .insurance against this was necessary rand the best insurance possible was •an increased membership list. A definite effort should be made in this .direction.

Mr Cutler's remarks were supported by .Mr W: Sullivan, wlio said that while it Avas impossible for the Association to increase the membership fee it was possible to increase the membership list. The* Association was now definitely established and should receive supportj The mattqr was left to the executive committee.
