THE HOME GUARD
RECRUITING Week for members of the Home Guard, affords the opportunity for all able-bodied men who are ineligible for voluntary service or Territorial camp, to join up with the Dominion's garrison army. The establishment of a local committee in Whakatane and the adoption of a definite plan of campaign, gives the movement greater reality than heretofore, and there ,is now no question as to the duty of fit oitizens who desire to serve their' country. Training and instruction will commence in the near future; The framework has already been constructed, and it now remains only for the ranks to fill up before the actual work can commence. Enrolment forms are obtainable at the Borough and County Offices, and may also' be received at the BEACON. It should not be necessary to remind all men who are capable of military training that the Guard affords them the avenue for which they have been looking, and that the matter of their joining up should not be deferred.
