MONTHLY MEETING HELD KIRKBRIDE'S ROAD AGAIN The monthly meeting of tlie County Council, held on Tuesday Avith a full attendance of members, was the shortest of the year, a quick disposal of a light agenda enabling the council to conclude the business ; Avithout an adjournment for luncheon. Mr 11. A. Waullaw wai ted on council to inform it that he could not sec hoAv the Kirkbride Road dispute could be settled by arbitration, as proposed by the council. The speaker said that he had agreed to the road in the lirst place on the understanding that there Avould be no fencing. On the occasion of a recent visit by the District Inspector of Police he had told him that all he wanted Avas Mr Kirkbride to leave the gates as he found them. Mr Burnett said that arbitration had been suggested in order to improve relations betAveen the contending parties. The proposal could not of course be sustained if Mr j WardlaAA r objected. The matter Avas not pursued.
