DESTROYER'S NAME

GREETINGS EXCHANGED BETWEEN TOWNS I . ■ ONE OP AMERICAN FLOTILLA An example of the ties which may be formed between communities in far distant lands through the decision of the British Admiralty to name the destroyers recently obtained from America after towns of the same name in the British Empire and America, is given in a cablegram received by the Newmarket Borough Council. The cablegram, which was addressed to the town clerk, Mr H. Wilson, reads: "On behalf of the townspeople of Newmarket, Suffolk, England. I send lo you and the people of Newmarket across the seas hearty greetings and a message of goodwill to mark the honour bestow ed upon our township by His Majesty's Board of Admiralty in naming an American destroyer Newmarket, and I trust that this ship and

all who sail in her will by their service in the fight for freedom make the name of Newmarket resound through all the world.

The cablegram was signed James Wheeler, Chairman of Council, New market, England.
