"SUMMER CUTS A NEW FIGURE'
Summer is the time to give yourself a sartorial lift. And it doesn't take a great deal of doing eitherJust acquire a few dramatic things —a hat with real spirit, a dress with a new silhouette, shoes thar are different from the kind you usually wear. Try a new colour schem? or new make-up or a new hair-do. Leave your winter self belli inland step out. But before 3011 get too imaginative, have a fairly complete view of the summer mode and decide jus! where 3*ou fit into the picture. If the silhouette of the moment doesn't suit your figure, don't wear it. An adaptation of that same silhouette will look just,' as smart —and do more for you... Well, what is' the silhouette for day-time? Slim-waisted —that is the key to the whole story. The slimmer the better. But are von murmuring, "Poor me,, my waistline isn't what it might be"? Like all other fashions, this one has its camouflage. Widening your shoulders and wearing a iuiji.sh skirt wil 1 make your waistline seem much smaller than its actual measurement. Lesson one in the fashion story is a lesson in foundations. Midrib control is simply perfect. Moderate and rounded curves are the thing below the waist, and high, wide and handsome ones above. All this is achieved—comfortably. and quite without any strain whatever —by clever cutting and the use of more and even better stretching fabrics. Marvellous "fabric-boning" takes the place of metal, bones in" many models. Bui metal bones, when they arc used, are so light and flexible you almost need a microscope to find them. Controlcttes are the favourites of the screen, although, many of our smartest women .have' swung back lo two-piece control' because they simply couldn't resist the new screen-star brassieres'. Such glamorous curves, Much slick, lovely lines, 3'ou never did see, and under the new clothes —which require all the bosom they can get—these ultrauplift triiles arc incredibly chic.
