WOMEN'S INSTITUTE MEETING

The Waimana-Nukuhou Women's Institute held its monthly meeting last Wednesday afternoon in the Waimana HalL Mrs N. Clark presided over a large attendance of members and visitors. The meeting opened with the singing of the Institute song, and the hymn., "O, God, Our Help in Ages Past." After the usual business was trans acted, members of the Waiotahi Women's Institute took over the entertainment hour of the meeting. A. play entitled "A Paying Guest" was very well acted and was much enjoyed. Mrs Burke rendered two delightful vocal items; Mrs White playing the accompaniments. Several much enjoyed competitions followed. A dainty afternoon tea was served by - the hostesses. The day's competitions were judged by Waiotahi members; the following being the results:— Best Flower: Mrs T. Wardlaw 1, Mrs Mitchell 2. Mrs Hughes 3. Best Vegetable: Mrs Boynton 1, Mrs F.i 801 l 2, Mrs I. Savage 3. Bottle Preserved Pears: Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs F. Bell 2, Mrs I. Savage 3. Frock costing not more than 5/-: Mrs I. Savage and Mrs F. Bell tied 1. Child's Frock: Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs Burnett 2, Mrs Woolfield 3. Girdle Scones: Miss R, Wardlaw l jt Mrs I. Savage 2, Mrs Hewitt 3. At the conclusion of the meeting Mrs Clark thanked the Waiotahi members for the most enjoyable programme presented. The singing of the National Anthem closcd the meeting.
