LOSS OF FINGERS

ACCIDENT AT PAPER MILLS EMPLOYEES HAND CRUSHED; Admitted to the Whakatane Hospital yesterday, Mr M. Goddard an employee at the Whakatane Paper Mill's was suffering from a badly crushcd right hand, the result of having been caught in the rollers of the machine which he was at-< tending. It was necessary to amputate the middle finger completely and also the top df the ring finger. His condition this morning was reported satisfactory, and it is maintained that he was considered lucky in having escaped Avithout more serious injuries.
