MAORI SOCIAL

patriotic effort GATHERING AT WAINUI A social held in the Wainui Hall last Saturday by the Wainui Maoris Patriotic Committee was quite u success. A Monte Carlo was won bv Mr Eddy Rimaha and Mrs Patterson. Another competition was Avon j by Mr Robert Biddle Jnr. Some of those present walked a distance of five miles and this patriotic spirit was waimly appreciated by the committee; Some came from" Awakeri and Whakatane. The evening was a gay gathering and considering the distances some had to come and the isolated situation of the hall it was very gratifying to see so many. Supper was served by the ladies of the committee.
