PUBLIC NOTICES SOCIAL SECURITY CONTRIBUTION AND N ATIONAL SECURITY TAX CHARGE ON INCOME OTHER THAN SALARY OR WAGES: November instalment. The third quarterly instalment of the Social Security Charge on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended 31.st March, 1940, falls due on the Ist November, 1940, together with an equal amount due in respect of National Security Tax. The National Security Tax imposed in July last had the effect of increasing the a-i mount payable from Is in the £ to 2s in the £ in respect of the August 1940, November 1940, and February 1941 instalments of the Social Security charge; one-half representing the National Security Tax. Taxpayers, who,, in May last paid the Social Security charge in full, but Avho have not yet paid National Security Tax are reminded of this additional liability equal to threequarters of the full Social Security charge. The second instalment of this additional amount becomes due on the Ist November 1940 and the balance 011 the Ist February 1941. A penalty of 10 per cent will be incurred on any amounts not paid within one month of the due date. Payment may be made at any Money-Order office or forwarded direct to the Commissioner of Taxes, Wellington C.3. The previous receipt must be presented when tendering payment. If payment is remitted by post the previous receipt or full particulars thereof should accompany the remittance. SOCIAL SECURITY REGISTRATION FEE: On the Ist November, an instalment of the Registration Fee (five shillings) will become payable by all male persons twenty years of age or over who. are ordinarily resident in New Zealand, other than those exempt. Details of the classes of persons entitled to claim exemption may be obtained from any Money-Order office, together with the necessary forms. Every person who is so entitled (incluuing persons in receipt of Age Benefits under the Social Security Act and not in receipt of any other income), must complete the appropriate' form of application for exemption and present it with the coupon-book at a Money-Order office within seven days after the last day for payment of the instalment. Such persons must claim their exemption in this manner otherwise payment of the instalment may be demanded. It is essential that the full name and postal address of the holder of the coupon-fiook be entered on the relative coupon -before tendering payment of an instalment. Any employer who employs for more than seven days a person who has failed to register or who is in arrear with the Registration Fee is liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of £20. NEW COUPON BOOKS: All male persons twenty years of age or over are required to possess a couponbook covering the November 1940 and subsequent instalments of the Registration Fee. Those persons who have not yet obtained a new coupon-book, should present their old book, together with any loose receipts, at the nearest Money-Order office in order that a new couponbook may be issued. IMPORTANT: Further information in connection with' the Social Security charge, National Security Tax or the Registration Fee may be obtained from any Money-Order office. Taxpayers who are in doubt as to their liability should make inquiries as early as possible duiing the month of November, 1,940, in order to avoid penalties 011 late payment of fMiy amounts pajablt duiing that month.
