SOCIAL EVENING
PIPE BAND ENTERTAINED Members of the Whakatane Pipe Band and their friends were the guests; of Mr and Mrs T. M. Grant of Thornton recently when a very enjoyable programme of informal items took place. The proceedings were marked by a happy air of socialability and was remarkable for the unsuspected talent displayed by band members. The entertainers were Chief Symons, Pipe-Major Laurie Johnson, Pipers D. Paterson, A. Ferguson and Drummer S. Goodrick, Messrs Uvquhart, Tweedie and members of the Grant family. Those who did "ot perform individually joined whole heartedly in the community singing. At the conclusion words of thanks and appreciation were voiced by Chief Symons and Mr W. Howat, Senr.
