THE SUMMER INFLUX.
Surprising as it may seem, the seasonal influx of Summer visitors to Ohope Beach has commenced already, and there are several parties occupying holiday cottages in which they intend to remain till after Christmas and the New Year. Enquiries from all parts of the province appear to indicate also that in spite of the war there will be no falling off m the number of holiday makers at the resort. The petrol restrictions may possibly restrict the number making use of the motor camps but will increase if anything the number of settled visitors staying over a period. Ohope still carries the overflow of the town's population and it is remarkable that in spite of the hundreds of young men who left for military servioe, making available a certain number of homes, in spite of the rapid erection of Government dwellings m Whakatane: itself there are few cottages available at the present moment and mid-season should see accomodation taxed to the absolute limit.
