PETROL ONE OF U.S. GREATEST EXPORTS
Crude oil and petroleum products accounted for one eighth of all 1939 exports of the United States merchandise, according to an analysis prepared by the U.S. Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce. In 1939 the total oil export values showed a decrease of 1.3 per cent, but there were increases in various the largest of which w'ad registered by lubricating oils. Motor fuel exports amounted to 42,353,373 barrels in 1939 as compared with nearly 48,000,000 barrels in 1938, whilst crude oil shipments, .with 77,000,000 barrels, showed a drop of 5,000,000 as compared with the previous year. Shipments of aviation spirit, reported separately for the first time in 3939, amounted to over 4,000,000 barrels.
