WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

OTAKIRI'S MONTHLY MEETING; PRESENTATION TO MEMBERS At the monthly meeting of. the Otakiri W.I. Mrs Whiteside presided over an attendance of seventeen members and friends. Arrangements were made for the forthcoming social in aid of patriotic funds. The secretary reported having sent an Institute, spoon to Mrs Martin —a former member who has left the district. A presentation on behalf of members was made by Mrs Tickner to Mrs Speirs to mark the occasion of her recent marriage. Mrs Speirs suitably responded. Competitions resulted: Best article made from a yard of Gingham:. Miss Tunnicliffe (hat and handbag) 1, Mrs White (toy duck> 2, Mrs Kedgley (apron) 3. Bran Biscuits: Mrs Tickner 1, Mrs Cristall 2, Mrs Woodberry. 3. Best Bloom: Mrs Tickner 1 and 2, Miss Murray 3. The meeting concluded with the singing of "God Defend New Zealand."
