ELECTIONS IN MAY GOVERNMENT'S DECISION The Government lias decided that the local body elections due to be held in May next year shall take place as usual. In making this announcement, the Minister of Internal Affairs,- the, Hon! W. E. Parry, stated that the Government had consulted some of the principal organisations concerned with the local body elections following upon representations made some time ago that the elections might be postponed on account of the international situation, "The Government has considered the replies received from the org-, anisations, and other bodies interested in local body elections and I has come to the conclusion that, in | view of the overwhelming opinion expressed, there is no justification for postponing the elections. There will be, of course, one or two amend ments introduced dealing with local government."
