WOMEN'S DIVISION
MEETING AT AWAKERI The monthly meeting of the Awakeri Branch W.D.F.U. was held in the Awakeri rlall, the president, Mrs E. A. Haultain, presiding. Members stood as a mark of respect for the late Mrs T. McGougan. Grants were made to Headquarters for the -Community Chest and to the Spitfire Fund. An appeal was received from the Leper Fund to which members present generously donated. It was arranged to have in the future a chest for members to contribute clothing suitable for the refugees,, also members were asked to bring along books and reading matter suitable to send to the soldiers in camp. Competitions were won by the following:—Scones: Mrs Kilbride 1,. Mrs Bloxain 2, Mrs Luke Shr 3. Child's Print Outfit: Mrs Fowell 1, Mrs E. M. Butler 2, Mrs McGougan .3. Best Flower: Mrs N. McGougan 1, Mrs Kilbride 2, Mrs Brizzle 3. Afternoon tea served by Mes--I'dames Jones and Kilbride brought the afternoon to a close.
