THE WARNING BELL AGAIN

NEW ZEAL ANDERS have learned with a feeling of surprised alarm of the distribution of disloyal and subversive leaflets amongst men who were included- in the recent Military Service Ballot. Just how big this underground organisation is, for what reason and where it exists remains a mystery but the fact remains thas whether we are prepared to admit it or not a very active and confident "fifth column" appears to be thriving in our midst and the sooner the canker is removed the sooner will we be able to concentrate without interruption with the task in hand- The circulars in question called upon the men drawn, to refuse to do their duty, and rodent-like:, were cloaked with anonymity a.nd posted from a general post office. It is scarcely likely that many will be influenced by these missives which arrive from a person too fearful to disclose his name, but it is nevertheless a shock to all decent minded people to realise that the disruptive forces can, in view of everything which depends upon ultimate victory, be still strong enough to seek to undermine.our war effort. There was never a more urgent time for this country to stand prepared against possible eventualities. Nothing can be certain from day to day for the very fabric of our communal and social life stands challenge to the destroyers of human liberty. We in God's own Country cannot tolerate this type of individual and the sooner they and their foul methods are eliminated the sooner will we. be able to breathe, freely the pure air of a country pledged to patriotism and loyalty.
