LOST WAR DIARY
FOUND AFTER 21 YEARS Lost in the troopship Delta ,21 years ago, a Avar diary Avas returned to its oAvner, Corporal D. T. Murphy of the 2nd Australian Division Engineers, in strange circumstances. A brother of Corporal Murphy attended a social function in a Melbourne suburb and Avas chatting AA-ith a stranger, Avhen the convert sation turned to the last Avar. The name Murphy aroused the interest of the stranger, who said he had a diary which had belonged to a Corporal Murphy, and apparently had been lost. Corporal Murphy's brother gave his brother's regimental number, Avhich corresponded Avith the number in the diary. The stranger drove home, returned with the dairy, and presented it. Corporal Murphy Avas returning home after the Avar Avhen the diary Avas lost. As the years passed lie gaA'e up hope of eA r er seeing it again.
