SCHOOL STEEPLECHASE RIVETT WINS SENIOR EVENT
The Whakatane - School's annual steeplechase was run on Friday afternoon over a course which passed through the Gorge, down the Taneatua Road, across to King Street (juniors finishing at the school) with the seniors carrying on to the river and back to the school. The senior event went to Rivett, who was responsible for the fastest time in addition, and the junior title was taken by Maxwell, Avith fastest time going to Law. The results, together with the handicaps, were:—■ Senior: Rivett (smin) 1; Dines (s%mins) 2; Abbott (6'%mins) 3; Broadmore (6mins) 4; McPeake (o min) 5; Hallowell and Hill (smins) 6. Fastest. time; Rivett (20mins 10 sees) l; Suckling (30mins 20secs) 2: Goodall (31mins 12secs) 3. Junior: Pat Maxwell (2mins) 1; M. Law (scr) 2; D. Searle (lOstecs) 3; J. Taylor (2mins) 4; P. Comiskev (2mins 30secs) 5; Peter Seebeck (2 mins oOsecs) 6. Fastest time: M. Law 1; D. Searle 2.
