FIRST AID

CLASS FORMED AT MAT AT A COMMITTEE ELECTED As the result of a visit by executive members of the Wliakatane Branch, St. John Ambulance Association, a first-aid. instruction class has been formed at Matata and the first meeting for instruction will be held in the Matata School on Thursday, October 17. Mr E. F. J. Naumann was in the chair and welcomed Messrs A. J. Canning, A r Carling and H. Carr and Dr Maaka to the meeting, which Avas Avell attended. In a short speech Mr A. J. Canning, Chairman of the Wliakatane Branch, outlined the work carried out by. the St. John Ambulance Association, stressing the value of the work'done by the Association and the Brigade and adding a promise of all possible assistance and cooperation from the Wliakatane organisations. It was decided to form a class and the following committee was elected: Mr E. F. J. Naumann (chairman), Mesdames H. D. Wilson (secretary), Anderson and Eraser, Messrs Raureti, Kirby and J. Patterson. A very promising start lias been made, over thirty expressing their intention of joining. Thanks to the Wliakatane representatives for their attendance concluded the meeting. \ ,
